Emails Show Lerner Sought Audit of GOP Senator [VIDEO]
Republicans are angry about lost emails at the IRS, and now are calling for hearings on an email made public.
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern reports from Washington:
The email shows Lois Lerner, the woman at the center of accusations the agency singled out conservative groups for extra scrutiny, suggested an audit connected to Republican Senator Chuck Grassley.
Lerner, in 2012, mistakenly received an invitation to an event intended for the Iowa senator that also offered to pay for Grassley’s wife.
That, Lerner wrote to a co-worker, may be an inappropriate source of income, suggesting a closer look . Ultimately the request was waived off.
Republicans say it, nonetheless, shows a pattern. The IRS says audits cannot be initiated by a sole employee.
