President Obama Defends Bergdahl Prisoner Swap
President Obama defending the decision to swap five Taliban detainees for U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl.
FOX News Radio’s Jill Nado reports from Washington:
President Obama says at the end of a war, countries swap prisoners. He sites Lincoln, FDR and other Presidents doing the same thing. The President also tells reporters in Poland he’s confident the released detainees won’t pose a security threat.
(President Obama) “We have confidence that we will be in a position to go after them.”
But Republican Senator John McCain on FOX News, getting skeptical…
(McCain) “If they do commit bad things, i.e. attacking America, then we can go after them? Is that the kind of logic we use now?”
The five were released into the custody of the country of Qatar.
