Ohio Senator Touts The ‘Wear American Act’
The Federal Government spends over a billion dollars on clothing that’s made overseas. Now, Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown is hoping to change that.
Matt Bruning from FOX News Radio affiliate WTVN in Columbus has the story:
The ‘Wear American Act’ would mandate that when the Federal government buys apparel like uniforms, that they come from American companies and are made by American workers.
Senator Brown (D-OH): “There may be some extra expense in some cases, cause sometimes it costs more because we pay workers better– but over time, it will better than pay for itself.”
Senator Sherrod Brown says that’s because Americans who are working are paying taxes instead of drawing unemployment and other government services. He’s hopeful the legislation will have the support needed to make it to the President’s desk.
