DOJ Announces $1.2B Settlement With Toyota
Toyota is going to pay — reaching a settlement with the U.S. government over a massive safety recall.
FOX News Radio’s Jennifer Keiper reports:
$1.2 billion is one of the largest penalties ever imposed against an automaker.
It settles a criminal probe into Toyota involving unintended acceleration and how the company handled reports and alerted the government. Reports started surfacing in 2009 after a deadly California crash.
Attorney General Eric Holder saying…
(Holder) “We can say for certain that Toyota intentionally concealed information and misled the public about the safety issues behind these recalls.”
Toyota says it has made changes to become more responsive.
