Gold Rush! CA Couple Finds Buried Rare Coin Stash
Talk about buried treasure! An unexpected windfall for a California couple out walking their dog.
FOX News Radio’s Jane Metzler has the details:
A different kind of gold rush! Buried in the shadow of an old tree on their rural property in Northern California, on a path they walked on for years.
A husband and wife finding 1,427 gold coins when she bent down to examine a rusty can. From 1847 to 1894, most of the coins in mint condition. Whoever put them in the ground probably buried them shortly after they went into circulation.
Coin experts consider some of them so rare, they could bring nearly a million dollars apiece at auction. The couple saying they’ll use the cash to pay off bills and donate to charity.
