A south Florida man will have to appear in court for allegedly trying to trade a captured and bound alligator for beer at a convenience store.

FOX News Radio’s Eben Brown reports from Miami:

A quickie-mart owner in Miami couldn’t believe it a man tried to trade him four-foot American alligator, tied at the snout, for a twelve-pack:

(Store Owner) “He tried to offer it to the customers, to sell this alligator, I need a couple of beer.”

Gators are protected species. Police arrested Fernando Aguilera.

Jorge Pino is a Fish and Wildlife officer:

(Pino) “Oh absolutely, it’s against the law. You’re not allowed to touch, harass, feed alligators in any way, shape, or form.”

News crews located Aguilera, who broke a camera when he couldn’t get paid for his interview.
