Texas Principal On Leave For Reportedly Trying To Ban Spanish in School
A Texas middle school principal facing some heat after reportedly saying there was to be no more Spanish in the classroom.
FOX News Radio’s Steve Rappoport reports:
Some residents say what Amy Lacey did was no bueno.
(Resident) “Shouldn’t have it over the intercom you know, it made the little children feel bad about that.”
Others see things her way.
(Resident) “If they’re in the classroom and whatever’s going on in class they follow through on that.”
The Hempstead Middle School principal on paid leave after banning students from speaking Spanish last month. The principal reportedly silenced Spanish to prevent disruptions in class. District officials assuring parents there is no policy banning Spanish and they embrace students from all backgrounds. More than half of Hempstead Middle School students are Hispanic.
