Election Night Round-Up
Republican Chris Christie will remain New Jersey’s Governor, but Virginia voters picked a Democrat to lead that state.
FOX News Radio’s Tonya J. Powers reports:
Democrat Terry McAuliffe came out on top in his race.
McAuliffe: “Virginia, thank you (cheers) for the honor of electing me to serve as the 72nd Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia” (cheers).
It was a smaller than expected victory over Republican Ken Cuccinelli.
Several cities decided on new mayors, with Detroit voters choosing Mike Duggan– that city’s first white mayor in four decades. Bill de Blasio cruised to victory in New York– the first Democrat to hold the mayor’s seat since 1989. Martin Walsh won a close race. He’s Boston’s first new mayor in 20 years.

FOX News Radio’s Hank Weinbloom has more on the Governor’s races:
In the two governor’s races a Republican wins in New Jersey, a Democrat wins in Virginia.
Chris Christie easily takes a second term and the speculation begins–will he run for President in 2016? Christie talking about what he calls the dysfunctional Government in Washington:
Christie: “If we can do this in Trenton, New Jersey, maybe the folks in Washington D.C. should tune in their TV’s right now, see how its done.”
In Virginia, voters elected Democrat Terry McAuliffe:
McAuliffe: “What a great night everybody huh?” (cheers)
Defeating Ken Cuccinelli who called the race a referendum on Obamacare– describing the healthcare law as a failure.

Governors and mayors weren’t the only contests in Tuesday’s election. Ballot initiatives were also decided around the country.
FOX News Radio’s Tonya J. Powers is back with those results:
Colorado voters okayed a tax on marijuana. The money will help build schools. Voters in 11 Colorado counties were divided on an effort to form a new state called “North Colorado”. Six counties voted against it, five were for it.
Minimum wage workers in New Jersey will get more in their paycheck. Voters approved an amendment that raises the state’s minimum wage by a dollar.
Texas voters rejected a plan to okay bonds to turn the Houston Astrodome into a convention and event center, meaning it will probably be torn down. Also in Texas, a ballot initiative passed that gives tax breaks to partially disabled Veterans and spouses of military members killed in the line of duty.
