A new study finds that teens  who are seeking obesity surgery often have many health problems.

FOX News Radio’s Sal Giangrasso reports:

Teenagers who want weight loss surgery often really need it, according to a government funded study which finds they have a staggering number of health problems that used to be seen only in adults, like high blood pressure or joint pain cholesterol problems and kidney or liver disease. Half of the them had at least four major illnesses linked with their excess weight. The study’s lead researcher says these aren’t teenagers who just want their cheerleading outfits to fit better. And the study echoes earlier research that found obesity surgery, like gastric bypass, is generally safe for teens.
