The 2013 Nobel Peace Prize has gone to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, a group that has teams in a war zone right now.

FOX News Radio’s Simon Owen reports:

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is overseeing the destruction of Syria’s chemical stockpiles — under a plan drawn up by the U.S. and Russia. And now it’s a Nobel Peace Prize winner as well.

The organization’s head Ahmet Uzumcu saying the group is as important today as the day it was set up.

(Uzumcu) “Events in Syria have been a tragic reminder that there remains much work yet to be done.”
