Trying to get a job with the federal government may not be a great idea right now, with the government shutdown. But private companies are hiring. And we’ve got a rundown.

QuickenLoans

Quicken Loans, the nation’s largest online mortgage lender has about 250 openings. Many of the openings are in Detroit, but also they are in other cities. They’re also looking to bring on 170 interns this fall in Detroit. Quicken Loans ranked in the top ten of ‘Fortune’ magazine’s best companies to work for.

Sedgwick

Sedgwick provides productivity management solutions. They have more than 500 tech and managerial openings between now and the end of the year. They recently opened claim centers in Coralville, Iowa and New Albany, Ohio, and a call center in Orlando, Florida.

NetApp

NetApp, which helps companies manage their data, is hiring in Sunnyvale, California, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Wichita, Kansas. 500 jobs available. Engineering, sales, customer service, and marketing among the open positions.

American Airlines

Finally, American Airlines says it’s looking to hire 1,500 pilots over the next five years. American is hoping to come out of bankruptcy and merge with US Airways.
