BRIAN’S QUOTE OF THE DAY
Brian on Obamacare: “I’m with the Krauthammer school on this one. Pass it, watch it be a total train wreck, and then when you get the hold of the White House and if you can get control of the Senate, begin to change it in a way that’s going to be positive.”
HOUR ONE
New York Post Columnist MICHAEL GOODWIN weighed in on Obamacare and the budget that is soon due. Goodwin said that the problem with Obama is his rigid ‘my way or the highway’ stance that gives little wiggle room. “The problem is when the president says ‘no negotiation,’ he gives too many republicans nowhere to move. They either have to side with him or with Cruz,” he explained. Goodwin also said that although President Obama has been very rigid with his stance, there are Republicans figures that have been equally rigid, such as Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).
ELI LAKE, senior national security reporter for Newsweek and The Daily Beast, talked about the al-Qaeda attack at a mall in Kenya. Lake explained that this attack is significant because it is the first successful “Mumbai-style attack,” where small teams of trained shooters attack urban areas and fire at random. “This appears to be a new style of al-Qaeda attack,” Lake said, “This looks very much like it was almost a suicide mission.”
HOUR TWO
AMBASSADOR JOHN BOLTON, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, weighed in on whether or not President Obama should have a one-on-one meeting with new Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Bolton said he is very against the two meeting: “I’m absolutely against it. I think that the idea that the American president really would shake hands with the leader of a terrorist state is just shocking,” Bolton exclaimed. “I don’t think the president should shake hands with a terrorist!”
Brian did another simulcast with STUART VARNEY on Varney & Co! Varney served Brian a piece of humble pie after only getting one of his three NFL picks correct from their simulcast last Friday. “You’ve spent a lifetime looking up football and sports in general and you’ve come up with this? You know Brian, that’s pathetic. You know it is. It’s truly pathetic,” Varney exclaimed!
HOUR THREE
After his little dust up with Sen. McCain earlier in the month, Brian asked SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM about yelling “Allahu Akbar” and Sen. Graham admitted that he associates it with a “war chant” and said, “When somebody yells Allahu Akbar in the Mid-East I duck!”
Then, Senator Graham weighed in on the ongoing budget battle and Obamacare. “There’s a storm building for Obamacare to be changed in a bipartisan fashion,” he exclaimed. “The one thing we can do in my view is change the topic from the flaws of Obamacare to us as a party.
Later, Graham weighed in on Syria, and said that Assad is stronger now that he has crossed the red line. “When he crossed the red line, not only did he not pay in any appreciable way, he comes out of this thing stronger,” Graham stated.

JAMES ROSEN, FOX’s chief Washington correspondent, talked to Brian about the potential meeting between President Obama and newly-elected Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Rosen said this meeting would be hugely important in symbolic terms, and not important at all in substantive terms. “There has not been a meeting between the head of the United States government and the head of the government in Iran since before the Iranian revolution in 1979,” Rosen explained, “Just that image beamed around the world would… a wonderful thing.”
DIANA MADISON, host and executive producer of Hollyscoop, gave Brian the latest from the 2013 Emmy Awards. Madison said a lot of people were expecting a lot more song and dance from host Neil Patrick Harris. “A lot of people weren’t happy about that,” Madison said. She also said that people went crazy on twitter when Bryan Cranston didn’t win for Breaking Bad.
