The Justice Department Sues Texas
The Feds take Texas to court, to challenge the state’s voter ID law.

It’s the latest action to protect voting rights, but Attorney General Eric Holder promises it won’t be the last. The Department of Justice suing Texas over the state’s voter ID law and looking to intervene in a separate lawsuit aimed at overturning the state’s redistricting law.
The U.S. Supreme Court tossed out a major enforcement provision of the 1965 Voting Rights Act earlier this year. The Justice Department is using another provision of the Voting Rights Act to challenge voter ID laws, state-by-state.
