There’s some evidence of a drop in childhood obesity.

FOX News Radio’s Chris Foster reports:

The number of obese kids in a Federal low-income food program has dropped in 19 states. Ashleigh May with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says there were changes to the WIC program in 2009.

May: “Specifically, an increase in the fruits and vegetables that are offered. An increase in whole-grain foods.”

She says they’re seeing changes in behavior, too.

May: “For example, increases in breast feeding as well as declines in the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages.”

About 12% of American boys and girls are considered obese.
