Taxing Guns & Ammo [VIDEO]

In an effort to curb gun violence, several states are adding or thinking about creating new taxes for guns and ammo.

FOX’s Molly Henneberg reports from Washington DC:

Seven states and one local government have added or are considering legislation to tack on more taxes to guns and or ammunition. For example: Cook County, Illinois has added a $25.00 tax on gun purchases. Connecticut, where the Newtown school shooting happened, is considering a 50% tax on ammunition. California may enact a 5 cent tax on every bullet sold and Maryland is looking at up to a $25.00 tax on handgun licenses and a 50% tax on ammunition. There’s also an effort by congressional Democrats to place a Federal 10% tax on individual handgun purchases. But critics say, this type of legislation is a roundabout way to get at gun control; by hitting gun owners in the wallet and they’re proposing legislation to stop it.
