Army Cutbacks
There was a time when you could always turn to the U.S. Army for a job. But now, they’re cutting back.
FOX News Radio’s Jill Nado reports from Washington DC:
It could mean pink slips for the people in camo.
General Odierno: “The Army’s in the process of undergoing one of the largest organizational changes probably since World War II.”
Army Chief of Staff General Ray Odierno announcing about 80,000 troops no longer needed because of nearly 170 billion dollars in budget cuts as well as the draw down of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. All this was planned out before the sequestration cuts, so it may not be the end.
General Odierno: “As sequestration moves on, there’ll be a requirement potentially to take out more fore-structure out of the Army.”
The General’s hoping so many soldiers leave voluntarily that there’ll be no need for forced reductions. But, forcing people out hasn’t been ruled out.
