BRIAN’S THOUGHTS

Brian on Edward Snowden: “For those people out there – and there’s many of you – who say ‘hey, this guy’s a hero’: He’s not a hero. There are venues and avenues for him to take to get this forward… If he moved forward and went to the NSA and to Congress and sought out the guy he supported like Rand Paul and said, ‘look what I have access to! It’s bad, it’s wrong and it compromises American security and I think it violates the constitution,’ HE WOULD HAVE HAD HIM!”

HOUR ONE

Brian’s co-host on FOX & Friends, GRETCHEN CARLSON, talked to Brian about the latest news surrounding NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. Carlson quickly made her position clear: “I do believe in the second amendment; I do believe in the first amendment; I do believe in the fourth amendment; but I’m not going to immediately go to the nth degree and say, ‘Okay, President Obama wants to take away our guns and okay, President Obama wants to change the constitution 100 percent.’  I just believe that this Edward Snowden guy committed crimes and I think he should be tried for that.”

HOUR TWO

FOX News National Security Correspondent JENNIFER GRIFFIN also talked to Brian about Edward Snowden.  “There’s a lot of contradiction in terms of what the American people seem to want right now in terms of if they want a perfectly secure state where no terrorists can come and attack the homeland, and yet they also want to… say that absolutely you can’t use the tools that the intelligence service has at its fingertips,” Griffin exclaimed.  She went on to say that we need to be more realistic about privacy in the 21st century and make sure we keep in mind all the technology there is to offer.

7 Summits TeamWhat do Major Rob Marshall, Captain Colin Merrin and Sergeant Rob Disney have in common? THEY JUST CLIMBED MT. EVEREST!  Captain Merrin explained to Brian that there is something about being on the top of a mountain that acts as a healing element. “Climbing mountains offers you a metaphorical goal as well as a literal goal; and standing on top of a mountain and achieving that goal allows you to heal some of these issues that you’ve come home with,” Captain Merrin said.

RICH LOWRY, author of Lincoln Unbound: How an Ambitious Young Railsplitter Saved the American Dream – and How We Can Do It Again, talked to Brian about his new book and how President Obama is misconstruing Lincoln’s legacy and his actions Rich Lowryas president for his own good.

“I wrote this book because I’m really drawn to the Lincoln of opportunity and aspiration, which is so important to his life, so important to his politics, and his policies; it was really everything,” Lowry explained.  He went on to say that President Obama “wants to own Lincoln.”  The reality of the situation, Lowry explained, is very different.  “The government was very different: We didn’t have a welfare state, we weren’t redistributing money from one person to another, and the government wasn’t regulating the heck out of things and making it impossible for people to build.”

Now let’s shoot to the worst number in 65 years: Long term unemployment.  It’s the worst in 65 years.  African Americans, teens, 33 percent. And this is data from the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.”
