New Weight Loss Drug

    Weightloss

There’s a new drug to help the obese, by making the brain feel like the stomach is full. But it’s not a magic bullet.

FOX News Radio’s Jill Nado reports from Washington:

It’s called Belviq, and even though the FDA approved its use last June, it’s just now getting to your local drugstore. The problem was regulators weren’t sure how to classify it because some people in tests said it triggered hallucinations. But the FDA says it’s safe, however you are going to need a prescription to get it. And Dr. David Samadi from the FOX News Medical A-Team says, don’t expect to pop a pill and lose the bulge.

(Dr. Samadi) “This should be the final resort, not the first option, and you really have to have diet control, portion control, exercise.”

Some people who tested the drug lost 5% of their body weight over a year.
