The latest edition of the Psychiatric Manual creating more controversy after a change in thinking on gender identity.

Gender identity disorder now has a new name and emphasis. The latest edition of the Psychiatric Manual has changed the condition to gender dysphoria.

The difference? Both describe a condition where a person is intensely uncomfortable with their biological gender, but gender dysphoria specifically focuses on actual distress resulting from not identifying with their gender.

The change is causing further controversy over the new manual.
