White House Letter Intercepted

A letter intercepted on the way to the White House may be connected to ricin tainted letters discovered in New York.

FOX News Radio’s Mike Majchrowitz reports from the White House:

At a remote facility that screens White House mail a letter was intercepted similar to ones sent to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and a gun control group he co-founded. The Secret Service says the letter has been turned over to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force for testing.

The letters sent to Bloomberg and his organization were said to contain traces of ricin, a highly toxic agent that is derived from castor beans. The letters criticized Bloomberg’s gun control efforts.

Last month ricin tainted letters were sent to the President, a U.S. Senator and a judge. Charges were filed in that case.

“US Secret Service can confirm that the White House mail screening facility intercepted a letter addressed to the White House that were similar to letters previously addressed to Mayor Bloomberg in New York.  This letter has been turned over to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force for testing and investigation.”
