    Barack Obama

President Obama addressed counter-terrorism policy during a speech at the National Defense University in Washington DC on Thursday. He discussed controversial topics such as the detention center in Guantanamo Bay, leaks investigations and the drone program, which he defended.

FOX News Radio White House Correspondent Mike Majchrowitz reports:

(President Obama) “This is the moment to ask ourselves hard questions.”

As for questions about his targeted drone killing program the President answered it’s legal and appropriate.

(President Obama) “Dozens of highly skilled al Qaeda commanders, trainers, bomb makers, and operatives have been taken off the battlefield.”

He pledged to follow through on his promise to close the terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo Bay.

(President Obama) “Gitmo has become a symbol around the world for an America that flouts the rule of law.”

But showing the sensitivity of the issue he was interrupted by a protester.

    Medea Benjamin

(Heckler//President Obama) “Close Guantanamo Bay//Why don’t you let me address it, mam?// (unintelligible)//Why don’t you sit down?”

The President also vowed to review policies that have allowed reporters to be targeted in leaks investigations.
