Teen Pregnancies Down
There’s been a noticeable drop in one particular birth statistic, according to the CDC: teen pregnancies.
FOX News Radio’s Ron Flatter reports:
Teenage pregnancies are down. Way down. Reaching a record low of 31 births per 1,000 teens ages 15 to 19. The Centers for Disease Control basing that on birth certificates through 2011. Basically, a drop from 4% five years ago to 3%.
The lowest rates are in four New England states. The highest rates continue to be in the South with Arkansas and Mississippi at the top of the list.
It’s not just teens. The CDC says the overall birth rate has also dropped. One of its theories? The economy has made it tougher to have children.
