Angelina Jolie Reveals Double Mastectomy
She’s one of Hollywood’s top paid actresses. Now Angelina Jolie wants to be known for something else — going under the knife to prevent breast cancer.
FOX News Radio’s Courtney Kealy reports:
Angelina Jolie says she went public to help other women… writing about her double mastectomy in a New York Times Op-Ed piece titled “My Medical Choice”. She writes that after genetic testing she found out that she carries a faulty gene and had an 87% chance of getting breast cancer. And a 50% chance of ovarian cancer.
The 37-year-old actress says the risk of developing breast cancer dropped to 5% after she completed three months of surgical procedures from late February through April.
Jolie says she did this with thoughts of her children. She lost her mother after a ten year battle with ovarian cancer.
