TX School District Cancels NRA Gun Safety Program
A school district in one of Texas’ big cities says an elementary school can’t host a children’s program from the NRA aimed at teaching gun safety.
FOX News Radio’s Eben Brown reports:
The principal at Peck Elm Elementary in Houston was excited to have the NRA bring Eddie Eagle to teach kids about gun safety.
(Eddie Eagle) “If you spot a gun, just walk away…”
But she had to cancel them, after Houston’s school district said no. These parents were looking forward to it.
(Parents) “If nobody teaches them to not pull a trigger, or gun safety, or about a gun lock, they’re going to play with it.You hear about it all the time.//I’d rather do it the safe way. Let’s do it at the school, let’s do it at the home, so when they get to the streets they already know.”
The district says they don’t allow presentations from political groups.
