Apolo Ohno “Effectively” Retires From Skating

Apolo Ohno

America’s most decorated Winter Olympian won’t be competing next year in Russia.

FOX News Radio’s Lisa Brady reports:

Apolo Ohno

(Ohno) “I’ve been blessed enough to be able to stand on that podium many times.”

Apolo Ohno after one of his two bronze medals at the 2010 Games in Vancouver – where he also won a silver – capping, as it turns out, a record-breaking eight Olympic medals career.

(Ohno) “I truly, I wanna be the best that I absolutely can be, every single time.”

The short-track speedskater now says he’s “effectively” retired and will attend the Sochi Games as an NBC correspondent.  Ohno, who turns 31 next month, has already tried a variety of other pursuits, including acting, Dancing With the Stars – which he won – and game show host.
