Congress Faces Debates on Guns, Immigration
This is shaping up to be a busy week on Capitol Hill as lawmakers deal with two headlining reforms: gun control and immigration.
FOX News Radio’s Rich Johnson reports from Washington:
The Senate begins taking up a long list of amendments to the gun control bill, starting with the compromise over background checks. Among those leading the lobbying: former Arizona Congresswoman – and shooting victim – Gabby Giffords.
(Kelly) “We’re going to be continuing to push for this expanded background check bill.”
…Giffords’ husband, Mark Kelly, on CBS. As for immigration, the so-called Gang of Eight will unveil its compromise plan on Tuesday.
(Sen. McCain) “I am guardedly optimistic that we will see, finally, the end of this long, long trek.”
…Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain, on CNN.
