North Korea is keeping up the rhetoric, rejecting a call for talks amid rising tensions on the Korean peninsula.

North Korea has rebuffed a South Korean proposal to resolve rising tensions through dialogue, dismissing it as a “crafty trick” by its rival. This as Secretary of State John Kerry wraps up a trip to Asia. During a press conference in Japan Sunday, Kerry told the North to cool it.
(Sec. Kerry) “Any other choice by them will simply further isolate them in the world and make it clear to the rest of the world where the problem really lies here.”
An though threats by North Korea have largely been only rhetoric, U.S. and South Korean officials think the North could ramp things up by test-firing missiles this week.
