Housecall for Health: Brain Mapping
The White House wants to know what’s going on in your head, hoping to kick-start research to help with brain health.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
The brain-mapping initiative announced by President Obama will try to find new ways to treat brain injuries and disorders like Alzheimer’s and epilepsy. The initiative faces the challenge of building new technology to produce pictures of individual brain cell circuits.
Right now, researchers are able to record hundreds of brain cell activities at a time, but to get a fuller picture, scientists say they need to monitor hundreds of thousands of neurons at the same time.
