Pope Francis Holds First General Audience

    Pope Francis presided over his first weekly audience at the Vatican today on this Holy Week before Easter.

    FOX News Radio’s Courtney Walsh has this report from Rome:

    Pope Francis held his first Wednesday weekly audience today. And unlike his predecessor Benedict XVI, he spoke only in Italian.

    Before he began, the 76-year-old former Archbishop of Buenos Aires took a victory lap around on St. Peter’s Square on this sunny Spring morning.

    During his address, the Pope spoke of Easter, one of the most important feasts of the Catholic Church. And was often interrupted with cheers of “Francisco”, Francis.

    Tomorrow he will say Holy Thursday mass with the 49 inmates at Rome’s juvenile prison. Only eight are Italian, the majority are Muslim.
