Is Anyone Feeling the Payroll Tax Impact?
Have you felt the impact of the rising payroll tax? If not, you’re not alone, according to a recent survey.
FOX News Radio’s Rich Johnson has details from Washington:
Since the first of the year, the percentage of your paycheck withheld to fund Social Security is back to the old level of 6.2% after a two-year, two-percentage point break. So, does it make a difference in your bottom line?
(McBride) “More than half of Americans, working Americans, say that they have been either unaffected or just haven’t noticed the change in the payroll tax cut.”
Bankrate.com Senior Financial Analyst Greg McBride also says most of those who say the hike hasn’t affected them are at the low end of the income spectrum, contradicting the assumption that low-income households would feel the biggest squeeze of the payroll tax hike.
