At Least 6 Shot, 4 Dead in NY
At least six people have been shot, 4 of them killed, in a series of shootings in New York’s Mohawk Valley. According to the Herkimer Fire Department, the first shooting happened at a house in the Village of Mohawk, which was set on fire. The gunman then drove off, later opening fire in a barber shop and at a car wash/oil lube business, both in Herkimer. Two people were reportedly killed at each of the businesses.
Police are looking for 64-year-old Kurt Meyers, identified as the suspect and still believed to be on the loose. Authorities say guns and ammunition were found in Meyers’ apartment, which is the location that was set on fire.
Herkimer is a small town of about 7,700 people, located 13 miles southeast of Ithaca and 65 miles east of Syracuse.
