Survey: Credit Score Errors High

    Credit Scores

There’s one number that can affect a lot of other numbers in your life: your credit score.  But a new study has found that that number is not always accurate.

FOX News Radio’s Steve Taylor reports from Washington:

One-in-20 consumers who checked their credit reports found mistakes that could make them pay more for loans or insurance.  A Federal Trade Commission survey also found that 1-in-5 consumers found some kind of error in their records at the three big credit agencies.

You’re entitled to one free look at your records every year from each of those agencies.  It can be done online and it isn’t complicated.  The agencies are Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.  If you find mistakes, experts say, report them to the agencies.
