Should a mental health board examining the prisoner accused of masterminding the attack on the USS Cole have to undergo special torture training?  That’s a question before a military judge in a pretrial hearing.

After hearing from torture expert Dr. Vincent Iacopino, Guantanamo Bay Judge Army Col. James Pohl deciding whether to recommend special training for the mental health board that will examine Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, accused mastermind of the 2000 USS Cole bombing that killed 17 sailors during a refueling stop in Yemen.

Prosecutors seeking the death penalty for the Saudi native, captured in Dubai in 2002, then held in secret CIA prisons in Afghanistan, Poland and Thailand, where he was waterboarded and threatened with a gun and a power drill to get him to talk.
