Housecall for Health: CT Scan Radiation Risk
A majority of patients going in for testing don’t realize they’re at risk of radiation exposure when they have a CT scan, according to a new study.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
Do you know how much radiation is emitted during a CT scan? New research from the University of Washington finds 1/3 of patients who get them don’t. Only 1-in-20 patients surveyed believed the scan could increase their risk of developing cancer.
Although the danger is small, study researchers say doctors need to better explain the risks and benefits of testing and radiation exposure to patients.
