Securing America: Easing Airport Screening
A tweak in airport security that should make it easier for travelers to catch connecting flights has been cleared for takeoff by Congress.

Finally, some good news for air travelers, something that could save time on international trips. The U.S. House giving final approval to the No-Hassle Flying Act, which gives the TSA the authority to waive the requirement that baggage from outside the U.S. be rescreened when it gets here, which can sometimes cause passengers to miss connecting flights in the U.S.
Under the bill headed to President Obama’s desk, the bags getting waivers will come from airports using the same kind of screening equipment and procedures as the U.S., so an additional screening in the same trip would be considered overkill. A likely starting point: 14 airports in Ireland, the Caribbean and Canada, where U.S. Customs agents do the inspections.
