Housecall for Health: Aspirin Coating Ineffective?
Aspirin may carry benefits for your heart, but getting those benefits may be hindered by the very same coating that’s supposed to make the pills easier to take.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
Do you know what type of aspirin to take for a heart attack? A new study from the University of Pennsylvania suggests the easy-to-swallow coating on some aspirin interferes with the way the drug enters the body, leading doctors to believe some patients are aspirin-resistant.
Researchers say until the coating is studied further, there is no reason why those on a daily aspirin regimen should use anything other than the uncoated generic version.
