Retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta, author of Living with Honor, talked to Brian about his book and why he received the Medal of Honor. Giunta, who is the first living individual to receive the Medal of Honor since the conclusion of the Vietnam War, explained that during a five-day mission, the Taliban attacked and carried away fellow army Sergeant Josh Brennan. When Sgt. Giunta noticed Sgt. Brennan was getting carried away, he risked his own life, confronted the enemy, and saved Brennan.
