CO Teen Arrested in Jessica Ridgeway Murder

A day after two teenagers were arrested in the murder of a young New Jersey girl, authorities in Colorado have announced the arrest of a teenager in the abduction and murder of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway earlier this month – and cops say he may have tried to strike before.

FOX News Radio’s Jessica Rosenthal has details:

They’ve arrested a 17-year-old, and despite his age, have released his name and mug shot.  He’s accused of kidnapping and murdering Jessica Ridgeway, and of trying to kidnap and kill a woman who was running at a lake near his house back in May.  Westminster Police Chief Lee Birk says they hope the arrest gives Jessica’s family some closure.

(Birk) “We hope also that knowing that an arrest has been made in this case can cause our community to rest a little easier and maybe feel a little safer.”

The AP is reporting that the suspect’s mother turned him in.
