Protestants Fall From Majority for First Time

A new study on religion has found a turning point in the United States.

FOX News Radio’s Lisa Brady reports:

The Protestant majority is gone for the first time in U.S. history, slipping to 48% of adults in a Pew analysis of several surveys.  One driving factor: the growing number of Americans unaffiliated with any specific religion, rising from 15% to 20% in the past five years – growth expected to continue since the research finds young adults today are more likely to fall into that category and stay there.

Another possibility: more people willing to admit they have no particular religious affiliation.  The study also finds these unaffiliateds are more likely to support abortion rights, gay marriage and Democratic candidates.
