Head Games: The Dark Side of Football Part 7

As the entire football community – from the youngest youth players to retired pros – deals with new concerns about head injuries, the NFL is facing a huge legal battle.

FOX News Radio’s Rich Johnson reports in the seventh installment of our ten-part series investigating the growing concern about concussions in the sport:

The understatement, from attorney Mike McGlamry:

(McGlamry) “Clearly, the NFL is gearing up for a fight.”

Who represents many of the more than 3,000 former players suing the league over the long-term effects of head injuries suffered while playing pro football.

(McGlamry) “Until the last year or so, the NFL has always denied any connection.”

McGlamry says the league continued to deny, even when it knew better.  NFL attorney Anastasia Danias says not so.

(Danias) “Any allegation that suggests that the NFL would have hid or failed to provide information that it had to the players is just absolutely without merit.”

Danias says if the cases do go to trial, it will take years of investigations into every plaintiff before anybody steps into a courtroom.

(Danias) “Medical histories, playing histories at the youth, college and professional level.”

As well as medical and drug records.
