Study: Autistic Are Targets for Bullies
When it comes to bullying, a new study shows some kids with autism are more frequently the targets.
FOX News Radio’s Lilian Woo has details:
Close to half of all teenagers with autism spectrum disorder are bullied at school, according to a survey of their parents. That compared to the estimated 11% of bullied kids in the general population. The results, published in the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine.
Previous studies finding bullied kids tend to be more depressed, lonely and anxious, and do worse in school that those not picked on. Researchers suggesting schools should target their anti-bullying campaigns toward the more vulnerable groups of students.
