Housecall For Health: Pregnancy Length

A new study finds a different reason behind the length of human pregnancy.

FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s edition of Housecall For Health:

New research reveals why pregnancy lasts nine months. In the past, doctors thought the size of the female pelvis determined pregnancy duration; for the baby to fit through the birth canal. But a study from Stony Brook School of Medicine suggests it’s the mother’s metabolism that sets pregnancy length, with both the pelvis and the baby adapting to fit. Scientists say there’s a certain capacity mothers have metabolically and once it’s reached, the baby is born.
