Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) spoke to Brian Kilmeade about the confirmation hearings for Donald Trump’s cabinet selections. He said they will start right off the bat and feels optimistically they will have a lot of them confirmed by the middle of February.
Mullin addressed the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine and if he is worried about our adversaries taking advantage during the transition period. Mullin believes it is our adversaries who are the ones worried because immediately after Donald Trump won the election, Putin came out saying he was open to negotiations to end the war. In addition, Mullin pointed to Qatar saying Hamas is no longer welcome. Senator Mullin explained why it does not make any difference to him whether Trump’s picks should go through background checks. Mullin feels if a background check is required for a specific position then that is fine but most have had clearances already in the past but it is not a stop red issue for him. Mullin addressed the issues within the defense industry and how the Ukraine war has exposed the drastic problems within the DOD when it comes to purchasing weapons. Mullen said Pete Hegseth, based on his conversations with him, is going to be perfect for Secretary of Defense because he understands the frustrations and bureaucracy issues within the DOD and the need to streamline and speed up the weapons needed by the military.
