3 Dead, 1 Missing After CA Yacht Race Accident

A yacht race in the waters off of California has turned deadly after one of the competing boats is destroyed in a crash.

FOX News Radio’s Pat O’Neill has details:

Three people dead, a fourth still missing after yacht named the Aegean ran into trouble, apparently colliding with a much larger vessel.  The boat was participating in a race off the coasts of California and Mexico.  The U.S. Coast Guard’s Henry Dunphy says the accident occurred well into the race, near Mexico’s Coronado Islands.

(Dunphy) “The Coronado Islands are approximately 10 miles offshore, and they’re, you know, between Tijuana and Rosarito on the Mexican coast there.  So, I’d say they’re halfway, little bit more than halfway.”

The accident comes two weeks after five sailors died in a race off northern California when their yacht was hit by powerful waves and smashed into rocks.
