President Obama: Women Should Be Allowed at Masters Golf Club

The Masters golf tournament is underway, a prime example of a “good ‘ol boys club.”  Now, the nation’s most powerful golfer is weighing in on the controversy surrounding The Masters and Augusta National Golf Club – and there’s a rare moment of agreement between President Obama and a GOP Presidential hopeful.

FOX News Radio’s Mike Majchrowitz reports from the White House:

While the prestigious Masters tournament is under way, the President weighed in on the controversy over Augusta National Golf Club’s male-only membership rules.  Women’s groups have tried for years to get it changed, and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney says the President agrees.

(Carney) “He believes, his personal opinion is that women should be admitted.”

And there is some bi-partisan agreement here: Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney says he too feels women should be allowed in.  The club has no comment, but it has said in the past it’s a matter for the members to decide.
