End of the Road: 93-Year-Old FL Woman Parks Car After 567,000 Miles

It’s outlasted three marriages and countless oil changes.  But it’s the end of the road for a Florida woman, parking her car for good after nearly 50 years and more than a half-million miles.

FOX News Radio’s Chris Hoenig has the story:

    Rachel Veitch’s ex-husband bought the Mercury Comet in 1964 for a then-pricey $3,300.

(Veitch) “He chose the color and he chose all the extras, which I certainly am enjoying.”

But the 93-year-old Orlando woman is giving up driving the car after more than four decades and 567,000 miles.  Veitch has macular degeneration, and says she’s moving on.

(Veitch) “I don’t have cancer and I don’t have Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and I’m having the time of my life out in my yard, pulling weeds.”

As for the car, it won’t be going to her kids or grandkids.

(Veitch) “Never.  Nobody can afford to take care of it like I have.”

Nobody except Jay Leno, who Veitch says is welcome to make an offer.
