71-year-old former Vice President Dick Cheney is reportedly recovering well in the Intensive Care Unit at a Virginia Hospital from a heart transplant.
FOX News Radio’s Courtney Kealy reports:
A spokesman for the Cheney family telling FOX News that the former Vice President is doing well, and that he is awake and talking. He was also able to stand up yesterday. Mrs. Cheney and his daughters are with him. The spokesman saying that his doctors are very pleased with the results so far.
He has suffered five heart attacks since the age of 37 due to cardiovascular disease. In 2010, Cheney thought he might be able to do without the transplant after he had a left ventricular assist device implanted.
Cheney issued a statement thanking his doctors for outstanding care.
