Housecall of Health: New Pap Test Guidelines
According to new guidelines, annual pap tests may be too much. A panel suggesting that getting one every three years may be best.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s Housecall for Health:
New guidelines from a government-backed panel say women only need a pap test once every three years to screen for cervical cancer. And that women don’t need to be screened until age 21.
The guidelines align closely with those from three top U.S. cancer groups. And is based on evidence that because cervical cancer is slow-growing, it’s unlikely advanced cancer will develop in the few years after a negative screening.
