PA Man Arrested After Drunk Driving on PHL Airport Runway
There were delays for passengers and flights at Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday morning, but they had nothing to do with the weather.
FOX News Radio’s Chris Hoenig has the story:
Philadelphia International Airport was shut down for about a 1/2-hour after police say a very drunk Ken Mazik broke through a construction gate and went for a runway joy ride.
(Sullivan) “He traveled the length of Runway 27 Right, and then in the opposite direction on Runway 9 Left.”
That’s where Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Joe Sullivan says the 24-year-old was cornered and arrested.
(Sullivan) “He took a punch at one of the officers and had to be subdued.”
Sullivan says there are no signs of terrorism.
(Sullivan) “There were no hazardous materials or devices inside the vehicle.”
…But Mazik knew what he was doing.
(Sullivan) “Before he crashed the gate, he literally stopped, backed up and then gunned the engine.”
Mazik faces DUI and reckless endangerment charges. More federal charges could be on the way.
