Contraceptive Challenge: States Sue Over Birth Control Mandate

The Obama Administration’s controversial contraception coverage rule is now facing a legal challenge from several states.

FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern has more from Washington:

Seven Republican Attorneys General are asking a federal judge to block a mandate requiring insurance providers to cover birth control, even for employees of religious-affiliated hospitals and schools.  The lawsuit, filed in Nebraska, argues the contraception rule violates the First Amendment.

The Administration has softened the rule, shifting the birth control requirement from employers to insurers.  Nebraska’s Attorney General says that doesn’t go far enough.

Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas also joining the challenge.
